Data Entry Field
|
|
A field to enter numbers, names, codes, or any other kind of data into a computer.

Dead-Reckoned
|
|
A turn that is under the complete control of the on-board microprocessor system, based on position and speed data provided by encoders and tachometers on each of the AGVs drive motors.

|
|
A conveyor transporting down a slope.

Deferred putaway
|
|
If the receiving operator does not create a putaway task during receiving, an operator must use the deferred putaway option on the RF terminal to create a putaway task and put away the received product.

Deflection Allowance
|
|
1) Load deflection - the provision for sag of load below the top of any load
supports. 2) Shuttle deflection -- the distance the shuttle is deflected at its fullest reach with rated load on the shuttle.

|
|
Angle of slope (in degrees that a conveyor is installed.

Deliver
|
|
1) As pertains to an SRM, the action that results in a load being removed from a storage location to a pick-up and delivery position via a Storage/Retrieval machine. 2) As pertains to an AGV, the action of a loaded AGV being directed to a specific delivery position and depositing the load onto the position.

Demand Replenishment
|
|
When there are not enough products in a picking location to fill a shipment order, Enterprise/EMS creates a demand replenishment task that moves sufficient inventory from other locations into the pick location. This appears as a system-suggested Move task on the RF.

|

|
|
A message and associated help text which are made available to the operator upon occurrence of an event.
|

Dialog
|
|
A software application program (screen) that interacts with a user to perform a control system task (reporting, editing, picking, etc.) An exchange between a user and the computer of information.

Dialog
|
|
Computer dialog used by an operator to communicate a request or to confirm a transaction on the computer system.

Dial-Up
|
|
A method for connecting to a system remotely using a phone line. This requires special software for the acquiring computer and an active data line connected to the system.

Differential Curve
|
|
A curved section of roller conveyor having a conveying surface of two or more concentric rows of rollers. Also referred to as a Split Roller Design.

|
|
Location at which objects are removed from the conveyor.

|
|
The sensors, switches, and other mechanical/electrical devices that initiate an input/output signal to the various controllers and computers.

|
|
A field on a screen whose only purpose is to display information.

Diverging
|
|
A section of roller or wheel conveying which makes a connection for diverting articles from a main line to a branch.

Double Deep
|
|
1) An AS/RS where each aisle has two contiguous rack rows in the crossaisle direction. 2) The deepest of the two locations in a double- deep rack. See also Single Deep.

Down-aisle
|
|
Abbreviated as DA. A directional term meaning parallel to the aisle length in an AS/RS.

|
|
Horizontal AS/RS rack member located between tiers used to connect the vertical rack columns.

|
Electronic transfer of data from a host computer system to a requesting computer system.

Downtime
|
|
The length of time a component and/or system is not performing its dedicated task.

Drive
|
|
An assembly of the necessary structural, mechanical and electrical parts which provide the motive power for a conveyor. Usually consisting of motor/reducer, chain, sprockets, guards, mounting base and hardware.

Drive Pulley
|
|
A pulley mounted on the drive shaft that transmits power to the belt with which it is in contact. Pulley is normally positive crowned and lagged.

Dual Command Cycle
|
|
Sequence of motions in which an SRM picks up a load at a P&D Station,
stores the load in a storage location, and retrieves a different load from a storage location to a P&D station. The Material Handling Institute (MHI) also has specific dual cycle definitions.

|
|

|

A short section of belt, provided with lacing, in a conveyor belt which can be removed when take-up provision has been exceeded.
